One of the famous coasts in Spain, the Costa Blanca draws millions of tourists each year. Lying on the eastern coast, the "White Coast" is one of those resorts where everyone can find their place under the sun, from sophisticated towns where life goes on 24 hours a day to quaint little villages where peace and tranquility reign.
Its clear blue waters and miles of white sandy beaches are certainly a major attraction. Beautiful mountains parallel to the sea are on the north coast. Here you can marvel at the Moorish villages where olive trees and hidden coves abound. To the south is where you will find the beaches mushrooming with palm trees, the sparkling, turquoise sea and rows of cafes and restaurants.
Within the mountainous interior are a series of fascinating medieval towns and fortified villages which have been largely unaffected by modernism and tourism. Inland from the beaches, the Costa Blanca has one of Spain's most fertile areas. The region is renowned for its citrus trees supplied all over the world. Almond trees and date palms abounding with blossoms also blanket the earth.
Every part of the Costa Blanca is indeed a treasure to discover, a place to relax and enjoy. You can bask in the sun, hide away at some secret cove, or meet new friends and party like there's no tomorrow. Whatever you fancy, the Costa Blanca is sure to please.
Alicante
Alicante, and it's wonderful boulevard with palm trees and shopping streets, is one of the most well-known towns along the Costa Blanca. Known for its miles of sandy beaches, Alicante is a starting point for thousands of tourists every year.
Famous for its excellent weather, the city invites you to take a trip along the coast or to the wonderful island of Tabarca.
With many historical buildings around the entire city, Alicante offers countless sightseeing attractions, from cathedrals to churches and of course a wonderful harboru area with beautiful long alleys for nice relaxing walks, enjoying the palm trees and the mild climate.
In addition to sightseeing, direct from the harbour area, a long wide sandy beach leads its way up to San Juan. Just drop your towel on the sand and enjoy a wonderful day in the sun.
During summer time, Alicante with its Airport, is a starting point for many Costa Blanca tourists, while during the winter months tourists and residents tend to live along the coast in places like Benidorm, Calpe and Denia.
Algorfa
Algorfa is a typical Spanish town in an extremely privileged location. Almost on its doorstep are 'Blue Flag' beaches, woods, nature reserves, leisure facilities, a world class' golf course (La Finca), peace, rest and relaxation.
Imagine staying in a place where the busy 'rush hour' traffic jam contains only five cars, at any road junction!
You can revel in the peace this sleepy village provides, or, you can choose to join one of the many activities the area provides.
Benidorm
Benidorm, located about 45 km northeast of Alicante, just south of Altea is one main attraction along the Costa Blanca. Despite its skyscraper skyline, it stands for beach and nightlife - lots of nightlife.
Surrounded by mountains, Benidorm is perfectly protected against the sometimes cold north winds. Therefore, the weather in Benidorm stays very mild, even in winter.
In summer, Benidorm is one big party. With more the 1000 Restaurants and over 30 Discos, Benidorm offers nearly everything needed for a "busy" nightlife.
Lying on the banks of the River Segura. Algorfa is one of the Vega Baja's lush and fertile citrus farming villages. Orange and lemon groves line all roads surrounding the village.
Cabo Roig
Often called "the jewel of the Costa Blanca", Cabo Roig is renowned for its fine sandy beaches, its luxurious detached villas and its prestigious marina and is perhaps the most exclusive resort along this stretch of the Costa Blanca coastline.
The prominent watchtower, around which Cabo Roig originally developed, is now part of a restaurant complex which overlooks the recently refurbished marina.
The two main beaches of Cabo Roig (Cala Caleta and Cala Capitan) are both extremely popular and are kept very clean and well maintained.
Dénia
Dénia’s beaches are of a remarkable beauty and it has a historic centre where the castle rises majestically right in the centre of town.
Mount Montgó, declared a Natural Park, is only a few metres from the sea and fishing boats come and go whilst they mark the rhythm of everyday life and provide Dénia with the best of the sea, making it the celebrated cuisine haven it has become.
You can climb to the castle, visit museums, churches, streets and old quarters, walk in Montgó Natural Park, watch ships arriving at the fish exchange, or enjoy the sandy beaches.
Javea
Javea lies in the shadow of the dominating Montgo Mountain in the northern Costa Blanca and is one of the most popular resorts of the region. Javea is an attractive destination with plenty to offer visitors including some of Spain's finest golden beaches.
Javea is divided into three parts: Javea Pueblo (the old town); Javea Puerto (the bustling port area); and Playa de Arenal (the main beach area). Today the old town and the port are pretty much joined whilst Playa de Arenal lies some 3km along a rocky beach from the Port.
Torrevieja
Torrevieja lies around 50km south west of Alicante. The area (including La Mata) is famous for its salt lakes, and salt, along with fishing, was the major industry in the area before the arrival of tourism which has caused the town to grow hugely over the last few years.
The name Torrevieja derives from the Spanish for "old tower". Torrevieja has a huge harbour which is due for major refurbishment and development.
Torrevieja boasts a superb promenade with a lively craft market and funfair and a huge number of bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours. It is also very popular with sand modellers who astound bypassers with their skill and artistry. There are dozens of fabulous beaches in the area.
Villamartin
Villamartin is situated about 8km south of the large town of Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca and is just a short drive from the Alicante - Cartagena motorway.
There are 3 golf courses close to each other in the Orihuela Costa area of the Costa Blanca, Spain, though Villamartin is the most established and best known of the 3 (the other 2 are Campoamor and Las Ramblas).
Villamartin is a championship course and hosted the 1994 Mediterranean Open.
The famous Villamartin Plaza has a huge number of bars and restaurants and is the ideal spot for that "special night out". The gardens are spectacular, look closely and you will spot the naked lady golfer statue.
